DO IT! about a week before I bought my Galant I test drove a Conquest. It was magical. I should have bought it. It was owned by a guy who was a real gear head, and had already done all the basic mods to make them realiable and a bit more powerful.
The only real reason I passed it up was I didn’t want to drive it in the Winter. It as too clean and those wide rear tires didn’t look snow friendly. I told my wife I’d buy it and keep her Cavalier for the winter, since she was getting a new car that summer anyway. She wasn’t impressed with that idea. Plus it was all of my 3800 dollar car budget, and buying a 28 year old car with no money to maintain it didn’t sound smart.
Oh funny thing about living in the mid-west Chrysler Conquests pop up on CL pretty regularly, but you almost never see Starions. So I guess the whole “slap an American name on it.” Thing worked.

Based on the ads, I’d say the SVO. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Starion/Conquest cars, but a non-running car with really shitty photos, vs. a running car that you can still find new parts for seems like a no brainer for me.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

SVO. That was the only Mustang that I would have considered spending my own money on back in the day. Not that friends and I didn’t have fun in various V8-powered Mustangs in the 80s, but I liked the more balanced, European approach to performance cars embraced by the SVO.

Same here. I’d have been willing to substitute a Turbo GT though.

SVO all the way. I had an 84, 85.5 and 86. They were serious fun.
